The Gingerbread Man
This festive season the Butterfly class have enjoyed all things Gingerbread! They have enjoyed listening to the stories “The Gingerbread Man’s Christmas Wonders” and “The Gingerbread Man Loose at Christmas”
They have created their own Gingerbread people – they are all different just like us. They carefully decorated Gingerbread Christmas trees with green icing, and toppings and then ate them for snack! Yum yum!
They created a snowy village of houses for the Gingerbread people to live in. All choosing different sizes and styles of homes, they included some tasty looking treats too.
They also made salt dough gingerbread men as Christmas tree decorations to take home. They enjoyed mixing the dough and then rolling it out and using the shaped cutter. They weren’t so keen on putting a hole in his head for the string to go through! Decorating them was messy but they do look fantastic.
They finished off this theme by using biscuits, sweets and icing to create a 3D home for a mini gingerbread man to live in.

Self Portraits
Butterfly class have been drawing self portraits. They used a mirror to look closely at themselves. They talked about the different features they could see. Then they drew their features carefully. They make a great display in the classroom.
Abney Hall Welly Walk
Butterfly class enjoyed a special autumn welly walk in Abney Hall Park in Cheadle. They searched for different animals carved from old tree trunks and took turns taking photographs of them. They also had great fun walking (and kicking) through the leaves looking for acorns and conkers. It was a great way to end this half term.
