Tameside Girls Football Champions 

On Thursday 25th April was the culmination of the Tameside Girl's Monthly league at Curzon Ashton. Our A team were in the top Cup comepetition and went unbeaten throughout the evening, meaning that we became Tameside champions for the third year in a row! Our B team were in the vase competition and finished in third place earning bronze medals!

Year Four Manchester United Tournament

On Friday 25th January our Minibus once again pulled up at Manchester United’s famous old training ground, The Cliff, this time bringing our year 4’s to the Tameside Manchester United Tournament where we took on schools from across the borough. Our team produced some great football throughout the day and we were unlucky to finish 3rd in our group. The football didn’t stop here though as we played a playoff against St Peters to try to finish in 5th place overall. We came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 and complete a very successful day.

Mixed Stockport County Tournament

On a much better morning than the girls had weather wise the boys and one girl both did well in the annual tournament organised by our friends at Stockport County. One team finished 3rd in their group of 8 and the other team won and drew some fantastic games.

Year 5/6 Girls Football Festival

Girls football in Tameside goes from strength to strength, with 20 different teams taking part in the development festival on Friday 23rd November. Although it was a cold evening the football played was of great quality, with both teams winning, drawing and losing games and preparing for the league later in the year.

Year 3/4 Girls Football Festival

On Friday 19th October we took two very excited teams of girls to the first football festival of the year at Curzon Ashton. As well as scoring some great goals, playing well and enjoying themselves it was also a lot of the girls first chance to play for Greenside. We look forward excitedly to the next one!

Droylsden Football Festival

On Thursday 18th October we organised a football festival held at Droylsden Juniors for local schools. After a great tournament the final between Moorside and Greenside went to penalties and we became winners after a very tough and tense shootout!

Girls Cup Final V Moorside

On Wednesday 1st May Greenside made history by becoming the first ever Tameside Girl's Cup winners, defeating Moorside 5-0 to win the Emma Toone Trophy in front of their delighted parents at St John Fisher. We are very proud to be Girl's football league and cup champions for 2019.

Boys Cup Football versus Gorse Hall

 On Tuesday 19th March we played our Quarter Final cup game in the Tameside cup against Gorse Hall at Droylsden Juniors. Greenside went both 1-0 and 2-1 down but then recovered very well to lead 3-2 in the second half. However then things went slightly wrong as Gorse Hall equalised and then scored 2 more in quick succession which we could not recover from, meaning we lost 5-3 and went out at the quarter final stage,

Year One Manchester United Tournament

Our year 1 boys were extremely excited to go to their first ever School football tournament held at the home of England’s most successful club Manchester United.

Two Year One teams were selected and both played some great football. One team finished 6th out of 8 teams after 2 wins and the other team did even better winning 4 games and finishing in 3rd place overall!

Cup Football Match v Greenfield

On a Sunny Monday evening on the 19th October we travelled to Hyde United's stadium to play in the second round of the Tameside Schools cup. We started off amazingly, scoring 6 goals in the first half and then finishing the game as comfortable 8-0 winners. We are excited for the third round in February!

Cup Football Match v Manchester Road

On Wednesday 3rd October we had a disappointing result as we narrowly went out of the cup to Manchester Road after a very exciting game finished 5-4 to them. We played some great football and hope to learn from this to progress further in other football competitions this year.

England Girls Football Festival and Game

On Friday 1st April 2019 we had an amazing opportunity to play in a football festival at the Manchester City's Eithiad Campus before getting to watch England Women take on Canada at a sold out Manchester City Academy Stadium. The girls had an incredible experience and are more excited than ever to play football at Greenside. Thankyou to the FA and Tameside SSP for the fantastic opportunity.

Girls Cup Finalists 2019

After great wins against Pinfold, Oasis Broadoak and then a very tense win on penalties against Manchester Road in the semi-finals we have managed to make the final of the first ever Tameside Girls School cup, the Emma Toone Trophy, which will take place on Wednesday 1st May 2019.

Manchester United Year Two and Three Tournament 

Our Year 2 and 3 children were the next to visit the Cliff. The year 2 children struggled a bit at first to get used to playing as a team but then were massively improved and won 2 and drew 2 of their last 5 games to finish a great 5th place. The year 3 children were even better and lots better than last year when they came as year 2’s After some great goals, including one spectacular goal form 20 yards out we managed to win 5 of our 8 games to finish 3rd overall out of 10 teams and just miss out on the final

Girls Stockport County Tournament

Two of our girl’s football teams travelled to Stockport Powerleague to take on 12 different teams from all over Stockport and Tameside to try to advance to the North of England Championships. Our B team showed great skill, winning games and competing really well.Our A team did even better, scoring lots of goals and winning games to reach the final. Unfortunately for the girls they didn’t quite find their top form they had shown earlier in the tournament and lost 2-0 to miss out on the trophy

Cup Football Match v Waterloo

On Wednesday 12th September we had a home cup tie against Waterloo , with both sides hoping for a place in the next round. Greenside started off the year in excellent fashion, passing the ball well and scoring some great goals in a 7-3 victory securing a game against Manchester Road in round 2.

 

Cup Football Match v Micklehurst

On Monday 24th September we had our second cup game of the year and continued our great form with another 7-1 victory with all players playing some great football in the lovely surroundings of Mossley Hollins High School. Hopefully our form will continue in the next round.
