Science - Adaptations
In science, we have been learning about adaptations. In this lesson, we looked at how polar bears use fat to insulate themselves from the cold temperatures of the Arctic. We conducted an experiment to test how long we could keep our hands in ice cold water with/without insulation!
Science – DNA
In science this term, we have been learning about living things and their habitats. As part of this unit, we conducted an experiment which allowed us to examine the DNA of strawberries!
.
English – Debate
In Year 6 this term, we have been learning all about the Titanic. Recently, we have been writing a balanced argument about who was potentially to blame for the tragedy. Beforehand, we worked in groups to list reasons why/why not a key figure was to blame. We held a courtroom-style debate, with a judge, defence and prosecution to discuss whether or not someone was responsible.
To celebrate Christmas, the Year 6s have been singing lots of Christmas carols at Denton’s Crown Point North to fundraise!
.
Music
In music, we have been learning how to play the ukulele with Tameside Music Services. We have focused on an array of songs, with a particular focus on the C, F, G and A-minor chords.
