World Maths Day
The children worked hard in pairs and as a whole class to solve the maths problems being given by Dr Evil Green. They showed good teamwork and communication skills. Eventually, they successfully saved playtime in school!
.
Science - Electricity
The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring various types of circuits. We also investigated and discussed what makes circuits work and what stops them working.
.
History and English - Stone Age Boy
As part of our new topic, The Stone Age, we’ve been reading The Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura. To familiarise ourselves with the story and practise reading and writing in the third person, we’ve taken part in some dramatic recreations!
.
History - Mummification
As part of our topic, Ancient Egypt, we have been exploring mummification. Firstly, we played against each other to see who could make a mummy the fastest! Then, once we’d learned about the full process involving some quite disgusting aspects, we tried mummification for ourselves! We didn’t have any Ancient Egyptian pharaohs or scribes spare, so we put what we learned to the test on some tomatoes. After 6 weeks of their Ba travelling to the afterlife, they look amazing! Tomato soup, anyone?
.
RE - Stained Glass Windows
We had class discussions about why churches have certain colours and themes on their stained-glass windows and what the Gospel means to Christians. We had a go at designing our own stained-glass windows for the church!
History - The Stone Age
4DW have enjoyed designing and creating their own stone age bow and arrow. We have used sticks, string, tape and paper to recreate the bow and arrow as much as we could. We also made sure we are communicating and working well with our partners.
.
Stone Age Art
We’ve travelled back in time 10,000 years and have designed some stone age headdresses. We sketched them first, before recreating them on air dried clay.
.
Christmas Dinner
The children enjoyed the Christmas dinner together!
.
Music
As part of our music, we’ve been learning how specific environments can influence sound. We learned about body percussion, before turning to a percussion instrument in glockenspiels to play our pieces. Here is us playing our carefully crafted canopy inspired melodies!
.
PE - Cricket.
In Year 4, we have started learning how to play cricket! Our first lesson involved us practising our bowling and keeping our arm straight. We’ve got some budding Lancashire players, for sure!
