Danone Cup North Regional Finals

On Friday 17th March the girls from year 6 travelled over to Sheffield to participate in the football ESFA Danone Cup North Regional Finals.  They would be up against the best teams from the likes of Cumbria, Merseyside and North Yorkshire.  What a day it would turn out to be.  The day started off slowly for the girls but they soon got into their rhythm and were through to the semi finals.  The girls went on to win the semi final and would face a tough team in the finals.  The final went to extra time and penalties.  Could the girls hold their nerves?  Yes they could.  WOW girls!  North Regional Winners.  Amazing.  Everyone is so proud of you.

On Thursday 1st December a selection of girls from year 6 attended the futsal festival at Tameside College for the second year running. The girls won this festival last year and wanted to retain their title. The girls did not disappoint. They played four matches winning all four with the girls keeping clean sheets in every game. Fantastic again girls. Well done.

Manchester City Academy

On Sunday 14th May the year 6 girls who have represented Greenside many times at football were lucky enough to visit the Manchester City Academy. The girls (and school staff) were amazed at the facilities at the venue. Just think girls, you could be training here one day. Thanks to Jimmy from Droylsden Juniors for arranging the visit.

Football

In May the year 3 and 4 mixed football teams went to Copley to participate in the finals of the football events that they had been participating in over the last couple of months. Results for both teams didn’t quite go our way but the children still put on some great performances and smiled throughout. Well done to all involved.
