Phase One and Two Dodgeball
On Monday and Wednesday morning we have lots of keen dodgeballers who arrive early to school to play fun, competitive games against each other. The practice has clearly worked to as we were Tameside dodgeball finalists and did amazingly well in the festival too.
Dance
Miss Garlick and Mrs Cullen have been hard at work preparing our dance squad "The Greenside Groovers" for the Believe and Achieve festival on 5th December. All the children have been really enjoying learning the dances and love their new t shirts for the festival.
After School Football Year 1 and 2
Year One and Two have been working on lots of different skills with Mr Pownall every Tuesday after school. This week they were using close control and passing the ball in triangles
Friday Multi-skills
Every Friday our Year One and Two children take part in different multi-skills activities such as circuits, parachutes and working on agility, balance and coordination. They are helped by our fantastic Year 5 and 6 leaders who run our activities.
Friday Boxing
After Mr Ellis became a qualified Schools Boxing Coach in December we were delighted to be able to start our after school boxing club. Working on punching skills and movement our children have made fantastic progress and developed lots of skills.
Greenside Sports Squad
At the start of this we launched our brand new Greenside Sports Squad. This is an invite only club for year 5 and 6’s every that help us prepare and train for School Games Events to help us to be successful and hopefully go on to represent Tameside at the Greater Manchester School Games. Children have already worked on Tag Rugby, which led to a final place and also we have began training for Quicksticks Hockey and Handball for the Autumn 2 term..
Monday Morning Maths of the Day Club
On Monday mornings we have Maths of the day club from 8.20-8.50 am. It includes physical activity and movement with fun maths games improving pupils knowledge. In the first week we worked on number bonds and place value using beanbags as place value counters.
Running and Cross Country Club
Every Thursday our children take part in running and cross country club. They work on running technique, fitness and have fun races preparing for Sportshall Athletics and the Tameside Cross Country championships
