Wednesday Netball Club

Since September Miss Smith has been running a very popular netball club on Wednesday nights. As well as working on basics like passing, shooting and defending children have also been playing matches and working on playing in different positions.

After School Club 100% Attendance

At Greenside we are encouraging children to achieve their 60 active minutes each day. One way we are doing this is to reward everyone who attends all their after school clubs with a certificate. Everyone who gets a certificate also gets an entry into a prize draw . This terms winners won a Stockport County Family Ticket and a ten pound voucher for Sky High Adventure in Droylsden. Well Done for fantastic commitment to sport.

Yoga

Below the children are showing off the difficult bridge pose. Look at the balance and flexibility they are showing to successfully complete it. In Autumn two with have been continuing to develop our balances indvidually as well as in pairs moving on to take on some more advanced yoga moves such as tree , warrior and plank poses.

Each week children in Year 1 and 2 have the exciting opportunity to take part in Total Gymnastics after school club. Total Gymnastics, founded by Olympic star Beth Tweddle, provides children with excellent gymnastic training and allows children to use the equipment safely and with skill.

Competition Club

A group of year 3,4,5 and 6 children have been practising our different sports we do as part of the School Games. After starting with tag rugby and hockey in the autumn term we have now moved on to practising hockey ahead of the competition in February. As well as practising skills and playing games, children have also been showing School Games values such as respect and determination.

Athletics Club

Mr Ellis runs athletics club every Wednesday night where children work on track and field events. This has recently included relay races, long distance running, standing triple jump and long jump. Last week children were working on techniques for throwing a javelin and a shot put.

Running and Cross Country Club

They are eager to improve their fitness and speed and lots of them have represented the school at cross country and athletics this year. In this weeks club chldren worked hard on a obstacle course to get round it in different ways and improve their pace and stamina.

As well as this on Friday afternoon two groups of Year 4 and 5 children have been working on different fitness drills each week to try to improve their fitness and bleep test score when they are tested just before Christmas.

RDN said "It's my favourite day of the week because we always get to do different activities"

Multi-skills- Year 1 and 2

Every Thursday our year 1 and 2 children have chance to take part in our fantastic multi-skills sessions that are led by year 5 and 6 children. The leaders each facilitate and lead a different activity which the children complete in a circuit. It is a fun session for the younger children and our leaders gain valuable experience.
